Garnett Keith serves as the Chairman Emeritus of SeaBridge Investment Advisors, offering his expertise and consultation on all facets of the business. As the Keith family uses SeaBridge as their "family office," Garnett and three generations of his family have a significant stake in the firm's success, ensuring a deeply personal commitment to the firm's growth and prosperity. He also contributes his insights as a member of SeaBridge’s Investment Committee.
Garnett was instrumental in the formation of SeaBridge in 1996/97 and served as its Chairman until his retirement in 2017. Prior to founding SeaBridge, Garnett held prominent roles at the Prudential Insurance Company, where he served as Vice Chairman and Chief Investment Officer from 1985 to 1996. Before Prudential, Garnett was Vice President of Irwin Management Company, a family office in Columbus, Indiana for the Cummins Engine Company family.
In his retirement, Garnett continues to contribute to the financial industry. He serves on the Investment Advisory Committee of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, a major funder of medical research, where he previously served as Trustee and Chair of the Finance Committee from 1996-2016. Garnett also serves on the IAC for two international family offices and acts as Chairman of the Clermont Foundation, a private foundation of the Keith family.
Garnett's academic credentials include a degree from Georgia Tech and Harvard Business School. He is a CFA charterholder and also holds the Chartered Financial Consultant designation, reflecting his commitment to the highest standards of financial management.
